What is Harrogate District Favourites?
Harrogate District Favourites is a curated collection of highly rated independent Trades, Services and Professionals serving the Harrogate District.
Rather than presenting dozens of competing businesses in the same category, we aim to recommend a maximum of four carefully selected independent businesses, making it easier for local people to choose with confidence.
Founder Members help shape the platform from the very beginning and receive ongoing Premium recognition from day one.
What is an Online Enquiry Mate?
A Mate is your online business assistant.
It answers questions, explains your services, qualifies enquiries and collects customer details 24 hours a day, allowing you to stay focused on doing what you do best while your Mate handles the online enquiries.
Many prospective customers search for local Trades and Services during the evening, when most businesses have finished for the day.
Instead of asking visitors to complete a static contact form, your Mate engages them in a friendly conversation, answers their questions and sends you a summary of the enquiry by email and/or SMS.
How do the Mate and Harrogate District Favourites work together?
Your Mate helps convert online visitors into genuine enquiries.
You can promote your Mate on your website, Facebook, Instagram, Google Business Profile, vehicle graphics, signage, leaflets and business cards. Wherever customers discover your business, your Mate is ready to answer questions and engage enquiries.

Founder Members are the 12 businesses selected to help shape Harrogate District Favourites during its launch.
Each Founder Member represents one of the 12 featured categories and receives:

A Founder Member’s category remains exclusively theirs for as long as they maintain an active Conversation Mate subscription.
No direct competitor will be admitted to that category while the Founder Member’s Conversation Mate account remains active.

We believe local people don't want to choose from dozens of similar businesses.
They want a shortlist of proven trusted independent businesses with strong reputations.
By carefully selecting Members, Harrogate District Favourites remains easy to use for customers while giving every Member far greater visibility than they would receive in a traditional online directory.
What happens if my category has already been taken?
If your category already has a Founder Member, the Founder position is no longer available.
However, we'd be happy to let you know when additional Member places become available or discuss opportunities in future Favourites locations as the platform expands across the UK - for example: York Favourites
Who is eligible to become a Founder Member?
We're looking for independent businesses that:
- have an excellent local reputation
- consistently deliver quality work
- value outstanding customer service
- are committed to serving customers professionally
- genuinely serve customers throughout the Harrogate District
Strong online reviews are certainly an advantage, but we also consider experience, professionalism and reputation within the local community.
How much does it cost?
Harrogate District Favourites is available exclusively to businesses with an active MATES subscription and is subject to category availability.
Founder Members
Only 12 Founder Member positions are available in each Favourites Zone.
Founder Members receive:
Premium positioning throughout the Favourites platform
Regular, repeated spotlighting in monthly Gift Voucher Giveaways
Category exclusivity within the Founder Group
A business-specific Conversation Mate
Hosting, setup and ongoing support
First refusal on the same category in additional Favourites Zones as they become available
Each Founder Member’s Conversation Mate is trained using the business’s website, services, products, FAQs and relevant uploaded information. It engages prospective customers, answers common questions, gathers useful enquiry details and introduces them to the human team.
Fee: £200 per month
No setup fee. No contract. No direct competitors within the Founder Group.
Standard Members
Up to four Standard Members per category may be included within each Favourites Zone.
Standard Members receive:
A searchable listing within the Favourites mobile platform
A business-specific Standard Mate
Instant response to online visitors
Initial enquiry engagement
Collection of customer contact details and enquiry information
Hosting, setup and ongoing support
The Standard Mate is trained using information from the individual business and is designed to start conversations, answer common questions and capture enquiries for the team.
Fee: £100 per month
No setup fee.
No contract.
Simply share it with another independent Trade, Service business or Professional and let them experience it for themselves.
You might know someone through:
family or friends
a business networking group
a local business you already use
previous customers or suppliers
your own professional contacts
When a business you introduce purchases a Mate and names you as the referrer, you'll receive a £50 referral commission as our thank you.
Referrals are completely optional. You can refer nobody and simply enjoy the benefits of having your Mate handling online enquiries and starting conversations.
Alternatively, you can refer as many suitable businesses as you like and earn £50 for every successful introduction.
We simply ask that every referral is a genuine personal introduction. Whether they're a friend, family member, customer or business contact, please only introduce businesses you genuinely believe could benefit from having a Mate.

Is there a referral programme?
Yes. You can earn a £50 referral commission for every successful Mate introduction anywhere in the UK.
Do I need a new website?
No.
Your Mate can usually be added to your existing website.
If you don't already have a suitable website, we can also provide a professionally designed one-page Mate website as part of your setup.
A custom branded domain is also included, for example:

Can businesses outside the Harrogate District join?
Yes.
Businesses located outside the Harrogate District are welcome, provided they genuinely serve customers throughout the district.
As Harrogate District Favourites expands into additional towns and cities, Members may also have opportunities to join those locations.
As the audience grows, every Member business also helps spread awareness by promoting Harrogate District Favourites through their own website, social media, printed material and customer interactions.
Over the summer the platform is in pre-launch and focused on positioning Trades, Services and Professionals as Founder Members.
The aim is to build a growing local audience that benefits every Member business during the coming autumn.
How will Harrogate District Favourites attract local customers?
Harrogate District Favourites will be promoted through regular Gift Card Giveaways featuring local restaurants and, over time, other independent businesses.
How do I reserve my category?
